Yeah, added a $1.20 2" Philips bit....Only problem is, when the promo code drops your total below $199, $6.49 shipping gets added back on, but it's still a solid deal.

For $30 more it seems to be worth it to just get the m18 version right?

Totally depends on your use case. The M18 is not brushless and is substantially larger. I got the M12 specifically because of the small footprint. Plenty wide enough to scribe any trim I may need to, or plane any door edge or cabinet doors, etc.... plus it is highly portable. It also has dual cutting blades whereas the M18 has only one. I run both M12 and M18 tools and never had any interest in the M18 planer at any price (would have just kept using my corded 3 1/4" to serve that purpose).

I mean, maybe that wasn't ENTIRELY truthful... If I saw the M18 planer for ≤$100 brand new , I'd probably grab it. I'd definitely seriously consider it

Not sure about that, but their return policy clearly states that any non defective merchandise returned can be charged a 15% restocking fee, so probably not even worth it to try to find out. Not even sure that they cover return shipping fees for a "changed my mind..."
