Flavor and the quality of the actual protein added. For the price? It's good if you are on a super tight budget and trying to keep your protein up.

Since I'm relatively new to the supplemental protein/muscle building arena, what would be some higher quality protein powder brands to consider?

Of course I see a preponderance of protein powder threads on SD that people get nostalgic for the days of .01 per gram pre-COVID which is now firmly in the past. What's a good price per gram metric if you want a higher quality vs. mid quality protein?

I purchased a MuscleTech powder (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1) but was floored when I saw the amount of cholesterol per gram of protein relative to others like Muscle Milk.

Recommendations and thoughts would be much appreciated.

Optimum Nutrition Whey. It pops up on sales on here relatively frequently, or you can stock up at Costco on January sales.

I have the strawberry flavor of this protein. By far, the worst tasting and texture of all brands I've tried. It's tolerable but tastes like Tums but a little worse. It's chalky and I can't mask the flavor even with mixing it with actual blended strawberries or blueberries. It's not disgusting but is not pleasant.

I second this comment. I also have the strawberry flavor that was posted on SD a few weeks back. The taste is definitely not the selling point. I've mixed it with 1% fat milk and also almond milk. Both have a hard time effectively mixing the protein. Definitely a chalky consistency. I just chug the mixtures and try to tell myself that I'm doing it for the gains 😭

I agree I just received the strawberry flavor and it is super chalky tasting like the 90s proteins. Very hard to drink but nostalgic from long ago protein.

It has casein which makes it chalky tasting. And that's good for long lasting protein supply. Honestly I think whey protein twice is better than this anyday

Only 32g protein per 70gram powder = 46% only.

I remember reading about a muscle milk complaint that analysis showed unhealthy levels of heavy metals. As there is zero regulation for these types of products so it makes sense. Can anyone comment on dangerous levels of contaminates in MM products?

I just received the strawberry pro protein...it is by far the chalkiest junk I have ever tasted and have taken muscle milk hundreds of times in the past.

Thank you. I've been trying to figure out what's the best one to use since I need help upping my protein.
