Not so sure about Samsung for refrigerators, based on my experience.

My first side-by-side Samsung refrigerator failed after about 6 months (the refrigerator turned into a freezer, overcooling everything - yes, items in the refrigerator would become frozen). Covered under 1-year warranty so had it swapped out for a new refrigerator, exact same model (I guess it was too broken for Samsung to try to repair). In the 2nd year the ice maker broke. Out of warranty so had to get a repair guy to fix it (I don't remember what that cost).

After a few years the ice maker broke again, but was partially usable. The mechanical tray wouldn't rotate fully to dump the ice, and when the ice tray returned to the horizontal position for filling, it wouldn't sit level/straight. So the water would overflow outside the ice tray and dump water into the ice bin. This blocked ice from being dispensed because.. water freezes.. and it would block the chute for ice to come out of. I would have to use an ice pick to break a hole in the chute so the ice could flow again. After a couple of months of this I decided I don't care about ice anymore so I shut off the ice maker. Other issues came and went over the years that were repaired ( a leak developed in the freezer that kept one of the bins from opening as it froze it shut.. that was fun!).. I don't remember them all. I was determined to try to make this last, because I really liked the refrigerator features. It had excellent storage and beautiful lighting as well as a pizza storage shelf in the freezer, really awesome. This is the model - https://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin...7ACPN.html Samsung RS277ACPN...

Finally replacing it and a Whirlpool is on the way. Sure, maybe others think they are bad, but I have had Whirlpool before and no issues after 5+ years the last time I tried one. So this one comes with a 2-year warranty from Costco, then Allstate can insure years 3-5 for an additional $120 or so. Will probably add that on so there's 5 years of warranty.

Below is the model I'm getting in case anyone is curious. It is probably not the best deal out there but the Samsung fridge has finally gotten to the point it needs to be replaced (freezer works but refrigerator is not fully chilling items.. only stuff in the veg/fruit trays is being chilled.. they have independent chilling, interesting). I looked up receipts and am amazed I had this fridge almost 12 years! Maybe I could get a repair man out again but at this point it's been so long I think a fresh start would be best.
