These are good quality binoculars, not some Amazon off-brand cheapos. This model, and all of the Prostaff line, was replaced by a newer design recently, and the previous models were being cleared out for $99, original price was around 130 at the lowest retailer. There isn't that much of a margin to discount them 50%, so you're not likely to see Nikon factory refurbished models for less than the price listed here. Their refurbs are basically brand new, but were things like demo stock. If you want some quality binoculars at a low price, this is a great deal. If you need something cheaper but not as good, get something like some lesser named Amazon stock that will be much blurrier around the edges and not build nearly as well. They might be all you need, but the Nikons being sold here are a great deal. I have bought a lot of Nikon factory refurb stuff and never had any complaints.

Would be a great deal if not for the shipping charge. Not sure what's up with that.

I put it in my cart just to check and there was a shipping charge. It was 10.40.
I added a padded Nikon strap to get the subtotal over 100 and the shipping went down to 2.40.

Weird. Maybe they changed their free shipping policy. Sometimes charges apply differently to certain items. The original post says shipping is free.
