Try NAPS2. I switched to NAPS2 and I'll never go back to proprietary scanner software. As long as Windows recognizes the device as a connected scanner, it will work.
Great printer so far, got it last deal time. Very happy. Super quiet, drivers for latest MacOS, scanning works without issues.
I don't print much so maybe 200 prints so far if at all. Connected via Ethernet to router as network printer. I had the MF-227dw before for many years and this is a great replacement. Excellent print quality and no issues. I am using 100% recycled paper. No jams whatsoever.
I bought this printer for my in-laws last time it was this price. Seems to be pretty decent. I haven't replaced the toner yet but I did make sure 3rd party cartridges are available. I have another Canon printer (don't recall the number but it's a ca. 2018 color model I bought for about $250 on sale back then) that I use with 3rd party toner without a problem so I don't expect any issues with this one.

How's the 3rd party toner scene for this printer? Any experience?

I picked it up at this price earlier this year. Surprisingly loaded for the price, and the cartridge it comes with is a full standard cart, so it'll last for quite a long time for my use. Starts up and gets to the first print very quickly as well.

I have a printer that uses the Canon 137 cartridge and we tested the cheapos vs the Canon cartridge and the Canon printed more sheets for the money. The better quality from the Canon cartridge is a bonus.
The printer being discussed here uses an 051 cartridge and separate 051 drum. I was comparing to see how it was against my current printer and the alleged page yield from the 051 is 1700 sheets and the 137 is 2400 sheets....but the 137 is cartridge and drum all in one. I'm passing for that reason.

I bought this printer about a month ago when it was at this price. I love it so far. The scanning is pretty crisp and tunable, prints pretty fast. Airprint works flawlessly and I have been using it in network mode, connected via wifi.
To get it to work as a network printer for windows machines, you NEED to use the software they send on a CD with the printer. The software on their website doesn't work.

Great info, thanks for sharing and I'll look into that.
