Bought it for the price... Hoping it includes a brown one though, pics are misleading (some show a lighter blue/green instead of brown/yellow)

Why do I need anything permanent? I will buy it but what's the risk of kids getting their hands on my stash and paint the house red/blue/green/purple?

Years. These keep well. Markers are one of the few things you can't go off-brand on. If it's not a sharpie I don't buy the marker.

Most colors will last quite long - for me, the Black, Red and Blue hold up the best over the years while the lighter ones like Yellow and the Pastels tend to lose pigment. The "Extra Fine" ones tend to go quicker even on the darker colors.

I have a few black/red/blue from 4-5 years ago that sat and still work fine, but the lids need to be on all the way or they will begin to dry out.

Despite them lasting, one of the reasons for re-buying are to get sharp tips since they tend to go flat after not too long
