I've been buying receivers from A4L for probably 15 years now. I always buy refurbs, the one problematic Onkyo I bought years ago had an HDMI issue and Onkyo honored the warranty and replaced the board for free. Highly recommend this seller. I'm currently using a Denon 950H I got a few years back on a pricing error for $299. Not enough reason to upgrade… yet. Maybe next year
Here's the Crutchfield breakdown on RX-V385 v. RX-V4A
https://www.crutchfield.com/S-07k...X-V4A.html

At a glance, the RX-V4A is 80 watts/channel (vs. 70 on the RX-V385), and supports Airplay 2, Alexa, and Google Assistant. Plus the HDMI 2.1/8k support you mentioned. RX-V385 has Bluetooth only, no wifi.

The RX-V385 is available from Accessories4Less for $199 now (also a refurb, but doesn't include free extended warranty):

I found this one for free earbuds: FREE50EPH

Really great deal. I have been running the RX-V6A in a two zone home theatre + outdoor setup for a year with no issues. If you don't need Atmos, this is a good choice.

Thanks. Tempted to "upgrade" from my Denon X3400H. More powerful, but it can't do all of the visual features of my Samsung OLED.

I should also mention that's it's going to power 4 KEF LS50s. Might not be enough power. I dont play loud, though. Going to take a chance.
It's not an upgrade from the 3400 unless you're just referring to updated features

Is this thing really 15in deep?
Can't fit in almost any cabinet
I have a Yamaha receiver and it takes up the full depth of my 20" cabinet with all the wires and connectors at the back. They're also quite tall so it might be necessary to adjust or remove shelves, allowing extra headroom for airflow.

Is that true? In the specs and the referenced Crutchfield review, it says it only supports one zone.

Looks like a firmware update fixed the issue.

If I update to the latest firmware, I have more the same problems. I have to reinitialize often. Don't get me wrong, if you don't want to do Dolbyvision, it's a great system. I have it paired with some Klipsch speakers. Blu-ray player no issue, Xbox, no issue. If I turn the Shield on I have had up to 10 minutes of the no signal black screen.

If I've only got a 5.1 setup and two 4k HDMI sources is there any downside for this vs the $400 deals on Onkyo 6050 or Denon S760 that get posted regularly?

I was going based off of this: https://manual.yamaha.com/av/20/r...48555.html

And the back of the receiver states Zone B.

Why not instead run your sources directly to the OLED and use eARC to get audio from the TV to your X3400H
