Correct. The liquid platinum is a different product altogether.

I just got the Liquid Spark last month for $50 as my first-ever headphone amp. I'm in no way an audiophile but I know what sounds good. In using the LS to listen to SACDs using an Oppo player and its DAC. I'm wondering how much of a bump I'd notice with this.

This is an endgame headphone amp for 99% of audiophiles.

I'm just dipping my toes into this bankrupting hobby. I currently have a set of Hifiman Sundaras and have a Vali 2+ that I use with a Sony NW-A45 to listen to songs of my long gone youth in my lazy boy. I understand this is about 3 years old or so but that it's still a pretty good deal. Just how much of an upgrade would this be?

Edit: Just a heads up for anyone reading: Once you place an order you have about 10 minutes to cancel. After that the cancel button will be greyed out and you're on you own. I tried to get through to them via phone, chat, email, contact forms and even twitter DM, but no dice.

LS is a great little amp. The THX amp has more power when using balanced output but probably not much different for single ended. In any case, both are considered transparent amps and you would probably not notice any difference between the two (unless you are getting near the volume limits on the LS or have headphones that are extremely difficult to drive).

Probably won't notice a difference. I would only "upgrade" to this if you want to buy something like an HE6 that needs a ton of power (2W @ 50ohms). This thing has enough power to drive anything through the balanced output so in that regard it's a really good price.

I think Monoprice is trying to sell off most of their audio products and get out of that business. They've been selling stuff off at extremely low prices over the last few months. They were selling the Liquid Platinum for $290 a few weeks back and it looks like most of the stuff is sold out.

They were "endgame" 3-4 years ago but today many entry levels are surpassing them.
Endgame audiophile is largely a myth for hardware (except maybe for headphones, just like endgame laptops.

What Balanced entry level amp is putting out near 8Wpc with a good SNR for $168? This is a great deal and the lowest I think I've ever seen it.

lol clearly you dont know what you talking about. Nothing "entry level" would deliver this kinda power with balanced out.

I can't wait to hear Dan Cummins mispronounce every other word on 'Timesuck' more clearly than I ever have before
