I do own this. One negative point is that it drains battery when nothing is connected to it.

Does it feel more sturdy than a dongle style hub?

Usual questionable SD staff posting. Other than one 4K@30Hz HDMI you're not getting much more in the way of ports than it's using up. It's hard to imagine, but this was actually $70 for quite a while. I bet they didn't sell many at that price.

These usb c hubs scare me Ive seen pics of them bending the laptop… I opted for a dongle usb c hub even though it's kind of annoying.

I see your concern looks like a bad design I don't like either. Maybe getting something like this 2x USB C Extension Cable Short, RIITOP USB-C Male to Female Extender Braided Cord for Nintendo Switch, MacBook Pro 7.8inch (Thunderbolt 3 Compatible) https://a.co/d/8838uJO

I think so. It scares me sometimes as it might damage ports if it hit something accidentally.

...I bought it for myself cause my old dongle one would sporadically disconnect from my monitor if it was at a weird angle. I figured getting a rigid hub would be best and it's a name brand that I know.
