They are also a bit in-the-way with my old (blue) 8" miter saw. It still works fine with the battery, it just can't pivot to the left without taking the battery out first. The battery hits the lever you pull up to unlock the pivot.
Works really well in tools that tend to drain batteries quickly, I use them with my fan, shop vac, etc. Just be aware that they are bigger in every dimension.
EDIT: Just measured a 9AH, 4Ah, and 2AH, all HP batteries.
The height of the 9AH is 3" (not including post or the platform between the clasps)
4AH is 2"
2AH is 1.25"
The width at the clasps is what also causes problems. It's almost 3.5" while the 2AH/4AH is right around 3" ... The width of the rest of the body is maybe an 1/8" bigger on the 9AH. 2/4AH being just under 3", the 9AH being just over 3"
All seem to be about 5.25" long, but the 9AH has a more solid bottom with no upward slant on the back. 2AH and 4AH seem to be exactly the same size and shape except the height.
It's nice to have and seems to let the vac run better than the 4AH HP batteries (next largest size I have).
If you use these high draw tools a lot, it is worth it. Also if you want really long runtime on something stationary like fans or lights. Don't get it for drills and other handheld tools and expect a more efficient use.
