I have one of these. It works up to specs. I like the design. It's bigger compared to some, but I suppose that might help with cooling considering it's plastic.

Way overpriced. These are slick when under $10, definitely not around $20.

It seems that they were not designed with heat sinks in mind. If you purchase a drive with a heat sink pre-installed, you may have trouble fitting it into one of these enclosures.

I installed a WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X (WDS200T2XHE) inside one of these. The case is slightly too small for the drive on the sides. But it was "soft" enough for me to force the drive in with a small bit of pressure. This was a temporary solution while I migrated some data. Afterwards, I installed an older heatsink-less SSD into this enclosure without issue.

The enclosure comes with some kind of adhesive pad that is supposed to help move heat from the drive to the case where it can be cooled by the air around it. Being an external solution that I'd like to keep versatile, I elected to ignore this pad and instead simply leave the case open. That does seem to work well.

True. I've been following these for about 1 month. Lowest a comparable one (they have so many) get is $12

SD: $Shilling crappy uGreen all the way to the bank. Read the critical reviews which are not fake, unlike many of the walk-on-water ones. Like this: "Don't waste your time with this garbage. There's something wrong with the controller that keeps the drive hot. However, the ssd holder is too easy to lose from the outside case."

ugreen ok brand, but other brand we can't speak of here has heatsink, or(co for the same price or so.

I guess the plastic is ok for travel no contact to transfer impacts.

Stay away... mine doesn't "remove" when I request it, even after an hour or so of supposedly completing file transfer. Esp. when writing to something in the enclosure, this is unhelpful and dangerous.

Compared this with the Sabrent nvme enclosure. The Sabrent is made of aluminum all around, it's slimmer and much more compact, and its sandwich style ensures good contact of the SSD with the thermal pad. I did not like the bulkiness of the UGreen nor the sliding mechanism since you can't "slide" a thermal pad into position. No perceivable difference in speeds, and finally, this drive is cheaper than the Sabrent.

I have a different branded one that doesn't eject if the system is booted with it connected, it will always say in use, though it ejects fine if it was connected after boot. Not sure if this is a UEFI issue or a Windows 11 issue or somehow the enclosures fault.

Most likely is a Windows 11 issue though.

Having the wrong controller can destroy your drive. I am not saying UGREEN does this as I have no experience with the brand. I only use Sabrent and Pluggable Gen 2 NVME enclosures.
