Fellows - needed suggestion on where to sell the existing car , 2021 model Y RED, SR with 13600 miles on it.
Can you also share a realistic estimated value for this. Thank you in advance..

Thinking if I can get a cheap upgrade to Model Y LR. I do qualify for the tax rebates.
Supply and demand. Dealership needs to make money from your car. Net cost of new cars for most people are around $40k before state tax rebate. Some states offer $3-7k incentives which could bring the cost down to $35k. $35k for a brand new car vs a used car. So a dealer might only want to buy it for $26-30k, so they can sell it at $34k

fwiw, average new vehicle price for 2023 is a whopping ~$49k [coxautoinc.com]. so with tax credits and rebates and saving from paying gas you're getting a solid deal imo.

Good to know, is it better to change the tax withholdings through employer to owe the tax next year? otherwise 7500 is out of the window
How about convert Ira to Roth ?

I'm confused, isn't the $7500 is tax credit to apply to your AGI? Now it becomes a rebate just reduce the price tag?
Next year it will work that way. This year it doesn't.

Your withholdings has no effect on the credit. The only thing that matters is your tax liability. Most don't understand what a tax liability is so they interpret a tax credit wrong.

Bought a long range Tesla Y with full self driving $10K in December 2022. Ended up paying ~$70K without a tax incentive. Paid $1,500 for a home charger. In 2022 drove 6,000 miles, paid $70 to charge at home and the rest $880 at free chargers.

I'm a little confused and seriously need help, I'm about to buy it tonight , but i filed my taxes last week and yesterday was the due date for taxes, how i can claim the 7500 tax credit, i really appreciate your help and responses.
gotta wait till next year fam when you file your taxes. the misnomer is that people think you will get the $7500 back immediately. its a tax incentive, not a rebate. theres a difference.

You filed your taxes from 2022. You won't be able to claim any tax rebate on a car bought in 2023 until you file your 2023 taxes to the best of my knowledge.

It's the amount of federal taxes that the government expects from you based on your income and deductions. Has nothing to do with what you've paid already and how much you owe or are owed when you file your taxes. Based on your income and deductions, how much will you have paid the government in federal taxes when all is said and done? If that number is >7500, you'll get the full tax credit. If less than 7500 you'll get whatever that number is. If zero, you get nothing.

Given many layoffs, these people won't able to afford their luxury cars and homes. They have to sell their cars, I bet price would keep coming down.
are you talking about the tech industry layoffs? because that is such a small number of jobs from of the economy that even after all that we are still at an ultra-low unemployment rate. many places are still having trouble hiring (not tech)
