Bought a long range Tesla Y with full self driving $10K in December 2022. Ended up paying ~$70K without a tax incentive. Paid $1,500 for a home charger. In 2022 drove 6,000 miles, paid $70 to charge at home and the rest $880 at free chargers.
got wrecked twice. first from buying the car with no rebates, and then paying $15k for FSD scam.

I always heard its expensive and that appears true, coming from a 2016 toyota full coverage to the Tesla Model Y:

If Replaced, Your 6-Month Policy Premium Will Increase By
$415.50
For a Total Premium of $1,341.90/6 Months
Your Current Premium is $926.40/6 Months
bro you drive a 2016 toyota, what do you expect. why are you even paying insurance on it, liability that 8 year old car

Next year it will work that way. This year it doesn't.
Wow, thanks! I'm looking for a second car for my home, in this case, I'll hold to 2024. It is still very hard to find a budget car right now.

Unfortunately I believe these prices(for commodities in general) are the new norm. Best of luck with the future purchase! Owning Teslas has been one of the best quality of life improvement choices for me. Home charging and the joy of driving these cars is second to none

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank aohus

OP should rename title of post from "tax rebate" to "tax incentive"

you will need to wait until 2024 to get the $7500 tax incentive when you file your taxes

rebate implies you're going to get that money back immediately

Fellows - needed suggestion on where to sell the existing car , 2021 model Y RED, SR with 13600 miles on it.
Can you also share a realistic estimated value for this. Thank you in advance..

Thinking if I can get a cheap upgrade to Model Y LR. I do qualify for the tax rebates.
Check CarbuyerUSA. I don't have a first hand experience but they provide good price and was endorsed by a famous YouTuber

If you drive a ton, can charge at home and qualify for the credits and rebates, this is something to consider if you are in the market for a new car! If you will depend on the Tesla supercharger network or DC fast charging stations I don't recommend going BEV at this time.
Yeah but not many will qualify for the tax credit due to the battery like tesla.

I've been watching the Model Y for couple of years with the development and pricing.

We're at a pivotal time in the market. Other car mfrs are coming online with their EV versions.

Tesla obviously knows this.

They're dropping prices to "suck the oxygen out of the room". If they can convince someone to buy their car now, before the wave of other EVs hit the market, they've taken the money/customers out of play. Making those potential customers for Ford, Honda, etc. no longer waiting in line for those mfrs.

It's a smart move to create additional demand. They know what is going on in the market place and trying their best to keep their hold on the market for as long as possible.

Don't waste your money. He will reduce another 10k again next month and you will be at $10k loss. Plus as they manufacture these really bulk - means too many build issues. Hard to get charged from superchargers as too many people have Tesla now. Most superchargers limit max 80% charge - which means you go there more often and stand in line to charge more often. Don't be another disappointed Tesla owner.
depends on your usage. but yeah in general if you're solely relying on supercharger stations to charge up its not recommended to get an EV period.

depends on each person's driving patterns. some people just want day to day local commuting (less highway, just mainly local roads) and for that purpose its an appealing vehicle.

My argument for getting a Tesla is simply that you're supporting a US based entrepreneur and company

Musk DID not invent x, y, and z but he did push the EV market further faster than any other previous attempts.

Don't worry so much about FSD. It won't get anywhere fast but know that you're investing into a company who essentially changed the world drastically. Model 3 and y are the best selling cars. Compare that to 10 years ago when legacy automakers said it couldn't happen. Now they're busy playing catch-up, offering vehicles that are inferior cost to range. Same legacy automakers who said these ranges were impractical. Now they're going deficit for the next years with PLANS to be profitable while Tesla is cranking out not even in full production. More factories opening up globally with streamlined manufacturing processes!

Biggest benefit? Try ordering your Tesla online. Now go to your nearest dealership and try to close on a vehicle.

I love how the F150 lightening looks but considering how every legacy automaker ganged up on Musk and said it will never be a viable option only to double back and now NEED Tesla's charging infrastructure... I say go Musk and go Tesla.
