Because you're rich and earning over $300k household
Is $300K before taxes "gross" income or "adjusted" after taxes? makes a big difference

I may not qualify for the tax credit and was trying to look at used ones. But why all the used ones on Autotrader still listing for more than a new one without tax credit?

Always see blah blah with $7500 tax credit. Are people buying these EVs actually oweing that much in taxes? And you don't get a refund so if you only owe $2000 in taxes you're only getting $2000 for the EV rebate

I just find it misleading people subtract the full $7500 off the car price like 1- it's actually coming off the car price 2- you get the full amount
I'm with you on this. A couple filing jointly needs to make $110k and have no other deductions to get the full credit. I hate this tax credit because it means I have to pay more for the same car that someone who earns more than I do, does.

What other product in life is there that you pay more for, than someone else if you make less money than they do?

Name another EV company that can self drive itself on the road as well as a Tesla, and has one of the greatest entrepreneurs of all time running it's company (Elon will have a larger legacy than Bill Gates or Steve Jobs once it's all said and done).

Here's a Tesla self driving. Super impressive what Tesla has accomplished:

Except that adding self-driving jacks up the cost significantly.

I've owned mine about a year now - I love the car, but there are two things you need to know going in - it's not a luxury car, and self-driving is a joke.

Even autopilot - which is basically assisted cruise control - leaves a bit to be desired compared to some other cars.

Love to get the car, but insurance is way high. My 2 car yearly insurance premium is ~1k and if I replace one car with Model-Y, it jumps to 3k :-(
This is with Geico in MA.

Also, check your state licensing fees. Many recoup the missed gas tax revenue by charging higher fees to renew plates each year.

Tesla will have another 20% or so to cut by end of this year by Sept or Oct, and that should be the final cut. They need to kill the competition fast thru pricing. See my post in the previous FP deal.

Tax credit - only if IRS owes you money, right?
