Slightly slick for those fixated on a Tesla or will rely heavily on Supercharging for those 500+ mile/day road trips. Still a bad deal for everyone else as there are already much better vehicles for value/$. Teslas still cost about $10k more than similar offerings.
Which car(s) are you fixated on that you believe are comparable in price/specs?

I have 95k miles on my model 3( i have owned it 3 years and 6 months ) repairs so far seatbelt + battery (12 volt battery cost 114 to install and replace in 15 minuts) +tires no other maintenance. Tires are expensive as they are 21 inch sporty tires. I charge at home overnight and it is enough to do my daily commute as you can see from my driving i drive a lot. I usually head out with about 90 percent charge and get home with about 10-13 percent or so so I charge 5 days a week. My insurance is high I pay $129 a month(for reasons hahahah) Lastly how much does it cost? I live in California so my electricity is high. .39cents per kilowatt hour. The best thing you can do here is figure out what your car mileage is and how much gas is in your area per gallon and then what your electricity will cost. For instances for me i would have to be driving a car that gets 49 miles per gallon to equal the price of electricity and gas. There are certain situations where having an EV costs more than it would to own a super efficient Ice car.
What is the rated range of your Model 3? How many miles do you drive daily to use almost 80% of the battery?

I'd get a Chevy Bolt over a Tesla.

There have been several FSD technology debates, but we can be sure Lidar is a complete fools errand (Google) as Elon said. Radar, OTOH, may have it's uses and I've always questioned the decision - while admitting I don't have the knowledge to judge the removal in favor of vision only. I don't often give ground on some of these things, but Tesla does know a thing or two about what they're doing. Or we all hope....

Time will tell on FSD, but we all DO know, or should know, that no one is going to be making a $25K EV profitably that you would actually want to buy anytime soon. Arcimoto is an ugly impractical solution for most things. The Bolt is a "go to the grocery store" kind of vehicle. You do NOT want to take a trip in one. There are no real alternatives today, or coming soon, in that range.

Not a single manufacturer - besides Tesla - can sell EVs profitably. I'd love to see it change and it could sometime in the future, but not soon. If you think I'm wrong, please tell me who is making money on EVs, because I follow the space/industry regularly and my count is.... zero.... Not Ford, GM, or Asian/EU mfgs, that's for sure (I'm ignoring china, which I hope "goes out of business" permanently, soon..). And that is definitely not changing this year, or anytime soon. Ford hopes to be EV profitable in 5+ years, but it probably won't happen.

Most will all fail. Rivian (+/- 24-30 months), Lucid (+/- 18 months), and some sooner (e.g. Lordstown motors < 12 months), but again, most will fail. Individual government interventions can delay things, but it will still happen.

Elon's decision to lower prices is what needs to happen and fantastic for average Americans that work for a living, as opposed to those sucking off the government tit or similar. It's the Ford model T paradigm, and Tesla knows it.

PS - Back to Ford - I predict that the cyber truck will decimate the Lightning and its ilk. Jeep, my favorite is also doomed IMO. Hybrid (e.g. Jeep) options are jokes. Buying one is foolish.
You have to be drinking a great dose of Musk-ade if you seriously believe LIDAR is a fool's errand. This clown went around ripping radar and ultrasonic sensors out of cars only to backtrack when he realized how stupid a vision only system would be.

And if you need further validation, try using Autopilot or FSD for any prolonged period of time on anything but an abandoned road. Phantom braking is ridiculous and would definitely have been offset by other, non-vision technologies.

Were you to still be unconvinced, have a look at the parking assist functionality rolled out recently. It's a disgrace, getting mocked by Tesla owners left and right.

I love the car for it's general function, but Musk really overpromised and really delivered nothing as far as FSD and Autopilot are concerned. I've got a 5 year old Dodge Durango whose laser aided cruise control works better than my 22 MYLR.

You simply plug your car in at night like a cell phone and set limit to about 65%. You can go about 70% of the listed full range on a charge from 20% to 90% - which is recommended for a better battery life. You can charge to 100% occasionally and go as low as 10%, but not recommended routinely. You get a better range at lower speed, warmer temperature. Headwinds at a higher speed is the biggest factor in decreased range. There is hardly any maintenance except for adding windshield fluid, changing wiper blades, tire rotation and change. Regenerative brakes makes your breaks last "forever". Cabin filter change ($62 parts and labor). Remember that unlike ICE cars, no oil lube filter, no smog, no transmission or coolant service, no timing belt, no spark plug changes etc. The software update is like IOS update. Tesla offers its own car insurance in most states. I pay about $1200 per year via State Farm. I will never buy anything but Tesla. My son and daughter also got Teslas and won't go back to ICE cars.
For a daily commute 100+ miles in total, would you recommend to get the long range or the standard range?

Sorry not paying nearly $50k for a car that has such low production quality. There's better options for EVs on the market that are much higher quality and can at least get their body lines to match up.

Ironically, if it doesn't have the self drive I'd buy right away for my kids. Like everything else with Tesla except the self-drive part. If I drive it sure I don't have to touch it but kids is a different story.

FSD is an option- you don't have to buy it.

It does come standard with traffic-aware cruise control and lane keeping- but that's becoming pretty common on lots of brands of cars today (especially EVs, but even many gas cars).

I keep seeing people mention a facelift coming I the fall — is the expectation that the refreshed vehicles will be more expensive than the existing models? If the price will be the same, then maybe it makes sense to wait. If the price will jump back up and you don't mind not having the latest look, then maybe this is a better deal?
Facelift is rumored for the 3 only (as it's a years older vehicle than the Y)- and it's certainly possible price on that will be higher, that's what happened each time the S/X had a refresh.

My brother just got his from the Jan. drop and had to get multiple bad alignment fixes. Yes, quality is still crap on a 50k car. And removing the Ultrasonic sensors was a big mistake. I can foresee more price drops to come.. Price drops are typically a sign of weakness. Hang on.. gonna be a good yr for future EV consumers.
LOL
Price cuts are a sign of adaptability.
GM cut production cos they cannot sell cars.
I would rather capture more market share than reduce it by cutting production!
Ford, GM and Stellantis believe they can dictate what customers should pay..regardless of market conditions!
lol

Does the autopilot system fail sometimes nah it fails often? Yeah absolutely 1000 percent yes. But this is the statistic that makes me think twice.

For drivers who were not using Autopilot technology, we recorded one crash for every 1.40 million miles driven. By comparison, the most recent data available from NHTSA and FHWA (from 2021) shows that in the United States there was an automobile crash approximately every 652,000 miles.

Raw data.
Also umm these cars are really really really safe when they get in a car crash. I think for me i dont assume i can prevent an accident there are just sooooo many variables on the road that i can't control. It will happen to me one day that is just raw statistics. When it does i would like to be in a Truck if i cant be in a truck(because i dont drive those things) i would want to be in a tesla. Raw data from the NTSB

Not a tesla owner, but wow...

Don't you think asking better, well thought out and reasoned questions would help you get some answers? All this could be better understood with a little cogent effort on your part, but perhaps that's not, well, let's leave that one where it lies...

For starters:

Commute distances, and the weather, can vary. That matters.
How long you can go on a charge is all dependent on weather/temperature, distance traveled, frequency of use, etc.
Insurance prices vary by provider, state, county, city, neighborhood, etc.
What kind of repairs?
Where will you charge and how much will you drive?

There is no little box to put everything in.
Again I said Tesla owners, obviously wasn't meant for you. Irrelevant!
