What is a "stay"? The verbiage on their website is very vague. Does a one night stay count as a stay? Because it says the number of "consecutive nights" spent on a property....

I do a lot of 1- or 2-day reservations with Hilton and each of those counts as a "stay" in previous bonus promotions and also for counting toward Diamond status.

If you have 2 consecutive days on 2 separate reservations at the same location, it will only count as 1 stay. I've had to add an extra day for work many times, and it never counts as 2 stays.

Ok thanks. Because I know sometimes marriott used to define a stay for only 2 consecutive nights (2 night 3 day stay) so I wasn't sure here. Especially here it seems the language was deliberately vague. "A stay is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel" sure sounded alot like it requires 2 night stay.

I think this is to catch the latter example where you have multiple reservations at the same hotel. Otherwise, 3 nights could be 3 reservations and then be 3 days. With this worded like that, those 3 nights would count as 1 stay even under different reservations.

Reward nights should also count toward stays for this bonus. It's been a nice surprise with Hilton to earn the bonuses even with using points.

What about consecutive nights at different hilton properties? Does that count as two stays? It should right? Because it's different hotel?

That's correct. You can even stay at hotel 1 then hotel 2 and back at hotel 1 for 3 stays.
