I bought one a a month or so back. Over-all quite good.
Pros:
Rack and pinion fence
Can adjust blade to be parallel to fence/slots
Standard slots
Cons:
Loud
Fence isn't perfectly plum/square to table top

A $250 difference is hardly a close enough difference in price to be like, "don't buy this budget portable jobsit saw, which is likely the best one under $300, but instead get this midrange portable jobsite saw for $250?" Sorry, but the 2 saws are in different price categories. They can of the the hardly be compared.

And is there any way to quiet the saw a bit? Insulate the frame around the base?
