I have an older one (ring second gen) and it works fine with my existing wiring and mechanical doorbell. In checking, this one definitely does not, so that means I guess they took that out as a feature...which is stupid. Looks like my model still sells for $100 as well. Woot does have it for $50 often enough so if you want a Ring that does work with your mechanical one, I'd wait for one of those sales.

Weird. My pro. version work with existing mechanical chime since the first day installed and never fail.

Ring customer service is very hit or miss. The training was horrendous. There are a few "always covered no matter what" situations with a few ring products

The cracked button on a pro is one of them
