For those not familiar with Macs: This is the same machine as the Costco $1599 deal (and BestBuy $1599 deal) but instead of 8C/14CGPU/512GB, you get 8C/14C/1TB.

At no extra cost.

That's a very worthwhile sale.

Please note the OP's product description is wrong; when you go to the Adorama page, it shows 14cGPU This is the 'standard' 14" MBP 2021 but with a 1TB SSD upgrade.

One of the better deals I've seen so far. I'll still be holding out for the 10 core processor though.

Code also gives $150 off on the newer 14 M2 pro 12cpu 19gpu 1tb, when added apple care the code went to $210 off. A little cheaper than Costco, around $50 with apple care. Not impulse buy worthy but if you're buying one anyway the little bit off is nice.

Guess Apple is really having trouble selling these laptops?
Nah. The M1 Pro is technically one generation out (they have the M2 Pro and M2 Max machines out) so the older M1 Pro machines are being discounted.

Not sure if there might be a better deal, but perhaps worth checking out: check out as guest ( no need to be a student / alumni)

I've never owned a Mac, but have been wanting one.
Is there any advantage with the M2 (I've read that the improvements are minimal, and for what I'll use this for, I doubt I will need the extra power anyways)?
If Apple ever updates the OS, would I be able to update or would it be available only the newest models and I would have to pay to update this laptop because it's older hardware?

This is better than the Costco deal of $1550 for a 512GB SDD

It's a great computer and I just bought this deal after sitting on this deal that popped up yesterday - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/macb...Variations

I haven't used the M2 but i can say that the M1 that i use at work is more than enough power to handle multiple video editing programs + way too many tabs in chrome. I would buy this as it's the lowest i've seen so far and i even if it keeps dropping in price, the power you get for this amount of money is a pretty solid deal if you're looking for quality.

There's honestly not much difference between the M1 and M2. The difference in SSD speed is what I find to be the biggest difference. You'll get many years worth of updates regardless if you get the M1 or M2. I can't say that you won't get an extra major update with the M2 but who knows at this point in the life cycle of either one. If you don't need the most up-to-date chipset, I'd just find a nice deal on one and go for it. Most of the M1 or M2's will be enough for the typical user.

For 90% of people the M1 air is more than powerful for the vast majority of use cases. So if you're worried about spending all that money, for half the price you can get a machine that's good enough for just about everything you need except heavy video editing. Even so, I was able to do a whole video ad on the air without any issues

Is it worth getting the 10 core version over the 8 or would be this one be more than sufficient? I will be doing music production and video editing, but I'm just doing this for fun for now.

It seems like it should be with the 25% off promo, but nothing seems like it's actually 25% off?

The 25% applies to older (previous) models. The sale that ends 4/21 is for newer models.
