Yeah- they'll wear much, much quicker if you throw them in the dishwasher.
They're steel, ceramic coated. You'll notice soon!
I am using it since 3+ years and nothing has happened to color, you just have to sharpen it every year thats all
Just FYI - that particular model eventually will start having the finish come off. You'll have little pastel flakes in your food. HOWEVER - I contacted Cuisinart just to ask if I was caring for them wrong, or if there were other people experiencing this. They didn't even ask for a receipt or purchase date/location or anything. Super nice and offered to replace.
They gave me a choice of 2 sets that were comparable that didn't have that coating, and shipped it to me within a couple of weeks. The ones I have now are stainless steel, 6 piece (instead of 5) with the covers, and have a lifetime warranty. So, if you do decide to buy this set despite what I said, Cuisinart has amazing customer service.
(I just noticed other people mentioning the ceramic coating flaking above.)
