I have a nixplay, which was significantly more expensive, and I'm not really happy with the app/interface. Too clunky/unintuitive for grandparent crowd. seems like good hardware/display though

I have not used this one but, I have seveal frameo compatible digital frames and like it. The app is nice. Limit 10 images at a time. Just need a sync code from the frame and it's easy after that. From my photo app on phone I can just share to frameo and send to all my family frames.

Limit 10 images at a time is awful lol
I got a Lenovo clock and that is just all my photos randomly
I would like some ideas on slideshow software/apps you could use on iOS or Fire tablets.
I got a picture frame from the Amazon whse for less than $20 and it was pretty simple to use. No need to be online to use it. I also remember buying one as a gift for my elderly mother years ago. All I had to do is upload the photos and it was plug and play for her while anything else might have been a more complicated.
Not saying the ones like in this ad are any better than using a tablet, but I think they do have some use for some people.
Why get this instead of an old tablet with an app to cycle through your pics?
Or even just a Google chromecast and sync your photos.
That's what I do. I have it synced to a specific folder in google photos and only certain new photos show up in the folder which then show up on the TV.
So a 55" Photo frame that runs quite a lot when not using the TV for other things.
I also think it's one of the simplest and easy ways to view your digital photos.
It's better to have a Google Nest hub because you can set unlimited photos and Google assistance, plus you can watch youtube and audio songs with built-in speaker

But that's the only advantage it has. It's worse in every other way imaginable.
You can always buy a photo frame case for a tablet or modify an Ikea shadowbox frame.
