It's an engineering marvel. I bought one for my wife for Christmas. She also has the Airwrap that I got her a year ago.
What makes this hair dryer so special and expensive? It has to do with the fundamentals of drying hair science. Yes there's a science to it. Dyson spent something like $75m on research. They bought so much hair that it caused a temporary shortage in the hair supply market.
To dry hair quickly without burning it, you have two options: control airflow or control atmospheric pressure.
Since controlling atmospheric pressure is unrealistic, your only option is to control airflow. This blow dryer moves a ton of air. That's how it's able to maintain a steady temperature.
I didn't believe it until I used it to dry my shirt that I spilled water on. Normally with a traditional hair dryer, I get burned a bit. Not with this hair dryer. It sends out this stream of hot air that lets me hold it in the same spot and it doesn't continue ramping up the temperature.
I honestly enjoy seeing my wife use it to dry my two daughters' hair. They used to complain that their head and face were getting burned off, but not anymore.
Oh and the attachments are connected magnetically lol! I didn't know that until my wife pointed it out. She said this makes it extra user friendly because people like her don't do well with stuff that you have to align with precision.
Get one for your wife and you'll be a hero. Make sure she reads the included literature or watch some videos to find out which attachments are tailored for her hair type and style she wishes to achieve.
Yeah, ummm... a little hint for future reference: attempting to make a joke involving something like cancer that has ended the lives of so many people's loved ones prematurely... It's just about always gonna fall flat and just make you look bad.
Dyson has the vinca-blue-rose color for the same price (w/ existing customer 20% discount) and includes two extra accessories. To get the discount, you just need to start a chat or call.

Since we're on the topic of expensive hair dryers. Anyone here had a chance to try both the Dyson and Panasonic with "nanoe" tech? Does the Panasonic add more moisture/less frizz?
