Sandisk SSDs have been failing at a high rate in the past six months. I wouldn't use them for anything essential until they fix their manufacturing issues.

Make sure your system can even utilize the speed since you specifically need USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. BTW, NO Macs have gen 2x2 so you'll only get about half the speed. So better off buying the non-Pro version for cheaper.

And with price matching plus Payboo, costs much less there than this deal.

Hmm interesting. I have two that I use for identical offline backups. And only 5 gbps USB 3.1 gen 1 on my PC with infrequent sequential writes so maybe that throttles it enough to not encounter problems. Pretty much just copy and bulk rewrite the data every year or two alternating them to keep the floating gates recharged from leakage and free from excessive bit errors over time in powered off state.

Haven't had any problems yet but this news doesn't excite me at all lol. The backed up data isn't terribly important, just a lot to have to hunt down and download again from certain archive and redump sites.

I keep having to upgrade my backup media to faster and faster interfaces so decided to future proof these and exceed my current bus capability by a factor of 4. Chose these to to jump to when purging all SATA drives, interfaces, and SATA to USB C cables. Hope I don't run into any issues when I finally upgrade my PC to something 20+ gbps capable. 😒

Wouldn't be the first time I had to plug a USB storage device into a slower port to avoid thermal throttling and disconnects. 🤮

You're better off getting the new Crucial X10 Pro for $260 with 20 Gbps speed using Gen. 2 10x10.
