The charm of this game is the narration and is way over a 7 year old's head. The actual gameplay is very basic. Currently playing it myself and am chuckling out loud at the humor, but don't recommend for a child. Your 7 year old would likely be bored.

Fun game. It's on sale for the same price on Steam [steampowered.com] too.

Would a 7 year old like it? I watched the trailer but it shed no light on what the game play is actually like??

Was on sale a couple months back for around this price. I remember because I grabbed it then. Sure it will rotate back on sale soon enough.
Don't forget you can always wishlist games you are interested in and get notifications when they go on sale.

I bought the original for PC a while back, and then bought the Ultra Deluxe version when it came out.

The base game is a ton of fun, well worth this price. The UD content wasn't as fun or interesting for me. It sort of loses its novelty after a while. But I still wouldn't hesitate to buy this just for the base content alone.

This game is so dumb. Wouldn't pay more then $2.99 for it
You would pay money for a game that you find dumb? Wouldn't that money be better spent on something you find enjoyable?

Think Myst or Portal in terms of objective, but with simpler mechanics.

As another comment mentioned, the biggest draw is the narration. There's a lot of dry British humor.

However, unlike Portal, I found the overall experience pretty forgettable. There's close to 20 possible endings (deluxe doubles it), but I only recall one in the base game that's definitive. You have to really dig for the rest and I was already over it after getting the "good" ending.

You can also watch the entire game on YouTube and get the full experience because of how rigid the gameplay is.

I started playing this with my 9-year-old last night and it gave him an existential crisis. Got a call from school today saying he's having a rough time following directions and has been arguing with the teacher. Might need to take a mental health day tomorrow to get his head straight.

Can anyone comment on the graphics/playability/potential glitches of the Switch version vs Steam version? I'm running a Ryzen 5 5600G with an RX 5500 and 32gb ram, but also have a Nintendo Switch. Got the desktop crazy cheap back in April/May of last year and won't be upgrading any time soon. Runs Stray, Turing Test, Portal, Outer Wilds, etc at high settings, so I'm thinking it would beat out the Switch version, especially since they are both same price. I almost never play Switch handheld mode anyway so that's not a concern. Thanks!

The original game is a work of art.

I suggest enjoying it going in blind.

After you have, if you'd like to enjoy watching someone else play it going in blind, search on youtube for "Gopher" and the game, and watch his several part series.

It's a Source Engine game, so the PC version is the best version.

I'm not sure if there's any mods available, but I know you definitely miss out on being able to access the console commands if you go with the Switch version.
