Can someone chime in? According to their site the 3 is no longer being supported and warranty has been updated to 2 years after manufacture date. I'm about to have one of these professionally installed, but am concerned about the warranty. I find it odd that Costco would be selling products that are not covered by the manufacturer though

Is there a new version? I just looked and 3 seemed current but didn't see any fine print about out of support or anything. I'd like to find a deal on the 8 zone unit

It's one of the reasons i'm staying away from Rachio and any other smart sprinkler controllers that have no physical controls and rely on an app instead. I have a 20 year old controller that works without a fault but i want one where i can have a bit more of smart features but not at a cost where the company decides 5 years down the road they no longer support my model and i have no ability to change the settings anymore through the device itself.

Is there a smart controller alternative that allows for physical buttons as well as app control? This app only controlled option does not sound very appealing for 10+ years of installed life.

Some Rainbird controllers support the addition of a WiFi module. You can use both the physical controls or the app.

I am also confused about rachio. It seems they've dropped the support, discontinued the item, and now it is on sale again.

I have RainMachine . It never got the weather in my area right. Always skips and says due to rain where it would be sunny.
Then they removed the remote access/ made it by subscription.
Just moved to Rachio 3 coupe of weeks ago.
Seems getting weather right

Looking on GitHub I suspect there will be an option to move to open source API controller management if rancho kills support of their app. There are already projects in the works.

Same here. I don't see anything about the Rachio 3 not being supported. I was looking to buying one. Now I am so confused.

I've had a rainmachine for years and just had to do manual for most of the time. It suggests to water my yard for 35 minutes a zone which seems super excessive (it wants to do this twice a week). I get an email weekly from Watermyyard.com which emails you every week due to your location .. for example it says I need one watering for 16 minutes to get .45 inches of water needed. I dont see how it can be that execessivly off. Considering doing the same and switching to rachio if its worth it but dont want to spend the money when I can keep doing it manually and it seems to work fine.

My city just started a portal to obtain these directly from Rachio for about $35. There's a mandate that homes after 2020 must have smart irrigation devices. Don't ask me why or ask me to comment on this stuff: I just moved to this city.

Nonetheless, wanted to alert everyone to check their water dept/city hall page to see if there's any deals as I got a 16 zone Rachio 3. Does the manual irrigation device in my garage work perfectly? Seemingly so. Would I benefit from a smart irrigation so I can know of water usage, patterns, and set zones with ease? Yep! I yearn to be a person who isn't running sprinklers in the rain...
