There's no benefit to sticking to ridgid ecosystem for a router. This is a router that has had tremendous reviews and is very popular. At this price it's a no brainer. U really can't lose.

This router has wires so it has no battery eco system. It takes standard router bits.
The price is absolutely stellar for this but it lacks a plunge base. Usually during black friday this router with a plunge base goes for 169 which I think is a better deal if you need the plunge base. If you are planning to use it for a router table or don't need the plunge base, this is a great deal.

I do a lot of routing and I have one of these and one with the plunge base. Because I'm too lazy to be putting one in and out of the table.
