I am a mechanical engineer, it's technically possible but the amount of work needed and the workarounds isn't worth it.

I tried this on my scooter and had to make sure my batteries were completely balanced before connecting them together, had to fabricate a housing and charge then separately, still ruined the battery in about a year. Cobbled together a new pack from the two bad sticks and sold it for pennies!

Anything under 20 miles range isn't worth it. There's alot of caveats in that estimate, going slow (7mph), your weight, hills etc to make that range. I have a Ninevot ES4 with extended range battery and I barely make 17 miles, but I'm going 15-18mph and I'm 200lbs.

Yeah... I think so. I never saw them in person but I remember seeing it on here last year because it triggered one of my alerts.

The difference between D18 and D18W is the battery storage, 11.2 vs 17.4. So for $150 more you get 6 miles more. The Walmart version is a better value

So with some engineering know-how perhaps I could get two of the walmart versions and make an up to 22.4 miles from the battery storage and some spare parts.

from a review on walmart.com "I purchased 2 of these for my kids on clearance for $100 bucks a piece at Walmart."

Good Reviews: 14 5 star review and 1 1 star review.

I have very little engineering knowledge, but enough to know that is not how that works, unfortunately.

Certainly there's gotta be a way to tap into the wire from main battery to motor and "plugin" battery #2 when #1 is out of juice. How is the motor going to know or care? The only issue would be carrying the extra battery.

This can't be rocket science.

I recommend at least a 350w motor with 500w 'peak' power, unless you have zero hills. However, a 500w normal motor is way more fun, and it's less stress on the motor due to having plenty of power.

It can be if you don't know what you are doing Wink But of course you are right, super easy. I think you just want to connect them in parallel and that's it (though you want to make sure the voltages are close to identical on both the first time you connect them)

Exactly, I was a lucky dog who got an ES3 Plus with only 4.81 pre-used mileage, very happy with that.
