I got the 165 gallon last summer and have been very happy with it! It is very sturdy, keeps out water, and I think it is much more attractive than most deck boxes. The hydraulic pistons on it are smooth and opening and closing are a breeze. One minor complaint is that it doesn't come with a latch and the top can open with a decent wind. Because of the pistons, it will stay open until you manually close it (which then leaves it susceptible to rain. But you can put a lock or pin through the holes in front to prevent this from happening.

I don't have a Suncast to compare, but this is high quality stuff.

I am not sure what the difference is beside the color. I'm guessing that the one on sale is the one without reinforced metal. I read in this thread that the one with reinforced metal will most likely not get their lids warped when its exposed to direct sunlight.

I fit the package in a chevy bolt euv with the backseat folded down. The car is pretty small but it just barely fit.

I got the 165 gallon on clearance a couple years back. it has been semi in direct sun and holding up (looks like new minus the dust). Put all my pool stuff in it.

Overall better than my suncast cheap thin plastic.

I see that there is a choice of brown or white for the color. Anybody have any insight on what color will hold up best in direct sunlight/outdoor conditions?

If you want the lid to last and not bow, cut the gas struts off.. the constant pressure from the gas struts + being in the sun/heat will cause the lid to warp. Sure it's a pain not having the gas strut assist but they are too strong for the lid and cause your deck box to smile at you Big Grin
