Eugene Kaspersky is a great guy. Ive met him in person at an event and got to chat for a moment. And while people guffaw about Kremlin and Putin: that's not the guy who makes the antivirus. There is no relationship they nurture. They (Kaspersky) even moved their globally collected virus data servers to another country for transparency and for the USA to be able to monitor their practices more easily.
Fight your MAGA war somewhere else. This ones a good deal if you're not paranoid. Also, what kind of personal data do YOU have on your computer that Putin wants to see? Give it a rest.
All big IT Russian companies, like Kaspersky, Sberbank, VK, Telegram are infiltrated by FSB, MIA and GRU staff, they named ODR (officer of the current reserve), when FSB officer transferred to IT company for control and taking data. It is a law and ruled number 1 for all business opened in countries like Russia or by Russian.
For example in Kaspersky, his vice Igor Chekunov is GRU (military intelligence) officer, other previous vice Ruslan Stoyanov was MIA officer from K dep. Even Russians opposition (Meduza) made few investigation and described in detail how does a standard meeting work in Kaspersky. Eugene himself gave a report to his FSB/GRU vice like he is not a boss, but inferior.
So, installing any app made by Russia business or Russians who made carrier in Russia, means given all data to Kremlin.
