I think this is the lowest price for a good 2TB SSD? However I really need a 4TB. I just don't want to waste another port for 2x2TB

I pondered if it was better to get 2TB external nvme since performance is just 500MB/s It's almost twice the cost to go external though but just easier if you ever move it to another machine. Literally take it out and usb 3 gen 2 external drives gets you 1GB thruput

Decisions.

There is that 4TB drive in Slickdeals too but it's $275 or something which will yield you almost 8TB on these internal non-nvme SSDs! So crazy the storage cost is coming down so much.

I've had some issues with PNY drives. But I've had no problems with crucial, samsung, kingston, and WD drives. Just my experience.

What kind of work do you need a 4TB drive for yet you are using a computer that doesn't have a spare SATA slot?

I'm trying to replace a 5tb mechanical drive, so a 4tb will be easier. I have plenty of spare SATA ports. I just don't want to route another cable since I have a huge case (tower 900). I would prefer one ssd instead of two.

This was more or less what I was doing. I then noticed that 2TB is currently the sweet spot on pricing for SSDs, so rather than paying more per TB for larger 4TB drives, I just built a whole new NAS using nine 2TB drives for way more money.

Sata type should go way lower in price to replace Hdd market. I'm expecting 4tb sata under 15 will coming soon.

I just got this for $69.99. Should I return it and get the PNY instead?

I wouldn't. These cheap SSD's likely all use mostly the same components anyway. And the PNY doesn't mention using SLC cache and doesn't have DRAM. The Team Group drive at least does use SLC cache.

Pretty much all modern consumer SSDs have a pSLC cache, whether they advertise it or not. However, I agree that most of these cheap drives tend to use the same components.

Should it ? There might be less of them in stock. Last time I checked to get an older model samsung ssd (sata) for an older laptop the prices were high.
