Please note: this is a higher end model than Soft M or Soft Classic due to 2-piece sole construction and most of the time these are made in Europe, not China. I personally tried Soft 7, Soft M and Soft Classic and only can wear Soft 7.

"Potting soil" color. Such a classic for a men's shoe descriptor.

Equivalent to (yet, wholly different than) "sublime effervescent elegance" for a lipstick or eye shadow. laugh out loud

I have been wearing Ecco for 20 years and had multiple models, worn for many years (including Gore-tex Track II mentioned in your post). I've had 0 issues with them and Ecco and Mephisto are my go-to brands when it comes to shoes.

I think as long as you're not walking around in petroleum products the soles will last longer than the shoes themselves.

I had a pair of shoes do this to me at the renaissance festival. they were a much older pair that I was wearing spats on top of them. It was kind of hilarious because I intended to wear them and put miles on them that day except by about 11am my insoles were flying out from under the shoe as pieces flew off like something out of a Jim Carrey movie. I was just drunk enough to think it would be a bright idea to just do the festival barefoot. I was probably 2 weeks before my feet were healed from that day.

I had this happen with one pair, many years ago, even though they were already a few years old, Ecco replaced them. I still have the replacement pair about 8 years later, and haven't had that problem on any eccos since
