Did I read this right? This graphics card has 24gb of memory? This is the height of idiocy.
I'd have to disagree there. More VRAM is not idiocy-- its actually nice to have. Not sure how NVIDIA managed to sell the idea of less VRAM as good for the consumer. Look at the 3070 8GB for example being choked by lack of space. They sold it as we lowered the VRAM compared with the 1080 TI or 2080 Ti so we could get you a better price. But what they weren't telling you was that by doing that the cards are designed to be obsolete due to a lack of memory within 2 years so you will have to buy a new one if you want to play the latest games.
VRAM is dirt cheap right now (about $3 a GB according to buildzoid). I actually prefer that AMD spent the extra $25 for the 24GB instead of sticking with say 16GB and running any risk that it isn't enough.

The GPU market over the past few years has made me stop caring about GPU upgrades at all.
$1k is a "deal" for a GPU? Forget it, then. I'll find something else to do.
You dont need to buy flagship GPUs to play PC games. A $200-$300 GPU will get you 1080p 120 FPS or 1440p around 90 FPS, paired with a modern CPU. Even higher with upscaling. Buy stuff like a 6600 XT, Arc A750, 3060.
