They're out of date because the events took place a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away).

Great the kindle versions are only $2. Hardcover is also on sale but for a lot more. Be warned though. Check the publishing date as a lot of these are already years out of date.

For those interested (and who don't want to be locked into the Amazon ecosystem), check Barnes and Noble, Google, Kobo, etc. They will have the same titles on sale and you'll be able to download an epub or PDF.

Dumb question, are these in color? I know the kindle is a monochrome e-ink display, but if I were to read these on a traditional RGB display would it have color? Or is the kindle file itself grayscale?

Kindle is a device as well as their eBook platform/store. These are in full color unless you download them to an e-ink device.
