I have the blue version and have had gotten many compliments. Pretty neat looking watch in person

Oh that's nice.
42mm, sapphire crystal.
Wish the chronograph was sub-1sec though. Still seriously considering this, though it's the last thing I "need"

Citizen makes a great watch. Green dial is kind of last year (who cares), I expect to see more green dial on sale coming soon

I want to like Citizen. I own one Citizen. But generally speaking I feel like they're too conservative with their design. Like their slogan is "We make by-the-numbers watches that couldn't possibly offend anyone." I feel like this watch is another example of that. Maybe I'm wrong though--maybe it looks better in person.

Yes. I do like their divers--and I just peaked at the orange sunburst. Very cool.

The problem with both Citizen and Seiko is their best looking/quality watches are Japan-only. You'd have to export from a site like Sakura or eBay to get ahold of them.

Any examples? I was in Japan recently and always thought there were no region exclusives

I would of gotten the blue face of it was similar price. Green is a hard color to wear as a daily for me.

One Citizen I was looking at online yesterday is the NJ0151-88L.

I'm not sure of the ins and outs of the JDM watch market, as they seem more accessible outside of North America. I just know there are many, many JDM watches that you can only get in America by purchasing them from Japan. And they happen to be more sophisticated, better designed watches (better selection of automatic movements, cleaner designs, etc.)

A lot of the Citizen and Seiko watches I see for the American market seem like the same tired department store variations that only boomers purchase. Seiko is further along bringing good watches to us, but there are still exceptions or massive delays.

Edit: here's another example of a watch for only the Japan market: Casio G-Shock GW-5000U-1JF. It's extremely sought after for American G Shock fans, but you're stuck importing it or taking the risk you're not getting a fake from Amazon.

Could someone explain why all of them have eco-drive in them? Sounds so silly

eco-drive is a term they use to indicate this is a solar powered watch.

Because it's Citizen's trademark "powered by light" meaning Solar or Lamp charges the capacitor. It's a good technology and it lasts a very long time , 20 years if you keep it regularly charged by wearing it or keeping near light
