Beware of Xfinity Mobile 24 month commitment. I got a Pixel 6a for free with 24 mos device credits. After 9 months the 6a separated the front screen from the back. Xfinity could care less since I didn't purchase the device protection plan from them.

Google honored the 1 year warranty however, and they sent out a replacement phone. I returned my defective 6a to Google...all should have been well.....except

Xfinity won't let me replace the defective 6a with my replacement 6a and keep the device payment plan going. They said (on the phone and different rep via chat) that if I swap in the replacement 6a I will LOSE my remaining device payment plan credits.

Since the defective 6a is gone, my options are to simply let that line ride out the remaining 14 payment plan credits (for 14 more months) and effectively lose access to that phone number (cannot move the phone number or I will also lose the remaining device payment plan credits).

Or, I can simply swap the SIM and be sure NEVER to confirm with Xfinity that I swapped the SIM into the replacement device (they have an online notice that they have detected I swapped devices and to confirm it). Then hope that all is well for the next 14 months...there is no guarantee.

According to the Xfinity CSR's there is no provision to retain your remaining device payment plan credits should you lose or break your phone during the pendency of the payment credits, even though the line remains active with the number you ported in. If you change the device, and you let them know, you lose the payment plan credits.
That 24-month commitment kills it for me.. It's really a Contract..
There may also be a $100 Rewards that you can stack.

That workaround was closed a while ago via an update. If you had done it prior to that, it will remain unlocked until you factory reset the device. There is another workaround that required you to factory reset the device, then during setup have your wifi network be a metered connection and it will not request the unlock status and the phone will be unlocked. Tha one still works to my knowledge, but it is very hard to maintain the wifi network to always use a metered connection and if it ever slips through, it gets the unlock status and locks the phone. I tried that method and found it wasn't worth the hassle.
Can you share a blog or a video I can follow to try it out?

Excellent deal, thanks OP. I have both $100 and $150 gift card offers. Unsure which one or if both I'll get.

Where do you see these offers? On Xfinity Rewards page? I don't see anything over there but on incentive page, I see this :

3/22/23 Prepaid Card Xfinity Rewards: Device Subsidy Pending Fulfillment Eligibility 5/5/23

Not sure why it's showing up, maybe I added this sometime in March??

Hence confused...

Yes check out from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/...t-87866679

In my experience the setup app would eventually get a request out and then lock the device resulting in having to wipe the phone and do the hack again, which was too much of a pain for me. Good luck!

Sorry forgot to mention you, video is above.

Also, if you are very lucky you might get a device that wasn't updated past Dec '22 patch and you can use the original exploit, which is stl working for one of my devices today, even with updating the most recent patches. As long as you don't factory reset the exploit persists with updates.

Is Xfinity selling Verizon Pixels or Google unlocked pixels? If it's locked bootloader it's a deal breaker for me. Found a post online saying they sell unlocked, other posts saying Verizon. Anybody with experience?

Edit: they are selling Model GVU6C, which is the non-Verizon model (no mmwave). Still OEM unlock is unavailable until sim unlock happens, but at least it'll be a normal Pixel later on!

I think they're rolling deals (on Xfinity Reward page) so not everyone gets them at the same time and they eventually drop off. One is probably just add-a-line while the other is buy a device (unsure if you can double dip, but probably). I think the former is a set $100 for everyone eligible while the latter's value might depend on reward tier.

Generally (if you do get them), I think they add them once a year (maybe every 2 years for buy a device) (to be used max once a year on up to multiple lines/phones) but the two offers can be loaded to your account at different times of the year. There's probably other factors involved.

Dude is pretty lucky with timing to be able to get paid $300 for every Pixel 7 he buys.

If you're starting new with XM - yes, that's a commitment and can be a signficant extra cost.

If (like me and others) you already have service with XM, especially on the by-the-gig plan - adding a line is just taxes (in my case, around $2 per month); plus the cost of a number ($7 from number barn). Total cost of around $55 (2 per month x 24 months + $7 for the number) to get a "free" phone.

Yes, it's locked to XM; but I can swap numbers to keep the credits, and then use the phone as normal (since I'm on XM anyway). I've picked up 3 phones so far this way; an iPhone SE, iPhone 12 mini and a Pixel 6a.
If you port in number 123 to get the monthly credits, can you a assign different number to the phone, 456 and still get the credits? Does 123 still have to stay with XM?

the credits r tied to the line which was opened, but maybe u can call to have the number changed. the number would be assigned to the line, not the phone.

I have done that twice so far; but there is a process I followed to retain the credits. The credits are tied both to the phone and the phone number; so you need XM CS to reassign the credits to keep getting it.

The CS will usually ask you for the IMEI as well as the sim ICCID for BOTH phones; make sure you have these details ready before initiating the chat.

1) Port in new number 123; activate it with the new phone.
2) Watch for 1 - 2 months to make sure that the credits are being accounted; sometimes it shows up in the immediate bill, sometimes it may be delayed by a month (and you get retroactive credit).
3) Once you see that the credit is being given for the new phone against number 123 : get on web chat with their CS (I usually do this on laptop so that I can also "print" the chat for a record.
4) On the web chat : inform the CS that you want to swap phones and sims between existing number 456 and new number 123; that you do not want to lose out on the monthly credits.
5) Both times - I was told this requires their Tech Support to do it; the initial CS will reach out to their advanced team, and a different person then comes on chat.
6) You may need to repeat your request details; then ask them to confirm that the bill credits will continue even after the swap.
7) Take a snapshot or a print of the chat confirmation before initiating the swap.
8) CS will ask for the IMEI / ICCID details of both phones; then you'll need to switch off both for them to do the changeover in their systems. Once done, they will ask you to swap the sim, start up one, then the other.
9) Usually takes about a day; your online account will reflect the change and that the phone is now linked to number 456 instead of 123.
10) Wait for another month; check the bill and make sure that the credit has been given and to number 456.

Once you've confirmed that the credits are now to the OLD number - you can port out the new number 123. I do not recommend terminating it with XM; instead port it out to a different provider and then let it terminate there.

IF the CS initially tells you it is not possible - wait for some time, then chat again with a different agent. Some of the newer agents are not aware of the procedure (or may not want to initiate an escalation to the Tech Support). If you keep getting a "no" answer : ask for escalation to tech support or a supervisor to check.

Make sure that you get the confirmation on the chat AND keep a copy of it for any possible issues later.

Fantastic buddy. Just unlocked my pixel 6 pro from best buy deal which ATT declined to unlock. Thanks and Repped.

That's a dumb thing to say. Shit happens. Xfinity Mobile should have let him swap the sim to new phone, as long as he's still pay for the plan it shouldn't matter.
Agreed. ATT has same devilish terms. Made me return ALL phones. Not worth risk of no bill credits or cost of their insurance. Will buy, get all my phones from other sources 2 avoid such shenanigans.

Anyone know if it will work if I activate a new line, but then cancel another line on the account?
I worked in customer retention for 4 years at xfinity and plenty of people do this. Just don't act entitled or do it every year (we see that) and if the employee doesn't wanna honor the deal, hang up and call back until someone does. They don't pay employees anything so everyone normally wants to stick it to them.

As I mentioned - I ALREADY have XM service on the by-the-gig plan; currently have 5 lines sharing 1 GB of data.

The $15 per month is for the 1 GB shared data; plus I pay the taxes and fees per line, about $2 per line for a total of $25 per month.

If I add one MORE line on the same by-the-gig plan - since I'm already on the plan, I don't need to pay the $15 again; I just pay the extra taxes and fees associated with the new line.
The advantage with by-the-gig is that it's shared data; the disadvantage is that the data buckets are small, and the per gig rate can be quite high ($15 fo1; $30 for 3 which works out to $10 per gig; or $60 for 10 which is $6 per gig.)
Thanks for explaining that. If you don't mind me asking, can anyone on the $15 by the gig plan add extra phones lines like that, and just paid the $2 additional tax? That seems like a great deal if you have extra phones. Do the lines get their own phone number, or is it data line only?

i must be living under a rock... isn't new line to add to xfinity plan costs like 15 bucks plus tax? Or at least that's what i pay for one line that i added only because they were discounting my internet by $30.
