Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
At Best Buy? That was YMMV based on store availability and was not available to everyone.
When I surfed that thread, people with EPP were waiting for it to go back down to $800. I don't have EPP so I found it lucky that I snagged the last one in the SF bay area. Either way, it's not a great price especially since this is through a program not everyone will have access to.
