    I'm pretty sure that's intentional. If you look up spicy corn chowder recipes, you'll see that they use spices to complement the corn chowder's natural sweet flavor, rather than overpowering or fighting against it, which ruins the soup actually. For salty soup, more spice works well, but for soup with sweetness like corn chowder, it works better to add a small amount.

    Actually it is you who don't get that spicy doesn't automatically mean hot. There are different levels and versions of spicy. You seem to be only thinking about it in terms of how hot something is. Food/cooking is deeper than that. Learn to appreciate it Wink
