I have 3 Japanese maples and the seedlings pop up like weeds around the yard. Beautiful trees, but the foliage doesn't tolerate the 100° plus weather or direct sunlight we get here in the summer very well. Best planted in a shady area in hot climates.

I'm very curious about the thumbs down. Japanese maples can be pretty expensive and you have photos of the plants, price and upc - and available locally for most at Walmart and three thumbs down. I've been a slick deals member for a long time, and these types of posts I find helpful when I see them. I don't mind a thumbs down, but would like to know why for future posts (and making a decision to not post).

Went to 4 Walmarts all across souther NJ and can confirm ymmv! No luck at any of these locations and the employees confirmed they never even had these to begin with.

We bought couple several years ago at this or lower price for a friend. They are doing very well. Beautiful tree. We planted couple this years also.

The red leaves maples should handle direct sunlight better.

If you want to stop squirrels from chewing your nuts, just spread its me all over your pants. It shows them there's a big predator around. My sweet old grandma taught me this, and nobody knew more about squirrels or nuts than she did.

I looked at these and can the trunks look funny. It's almost like a larger more mature tree was growing, it was sliced, and then a small twig was placed in to continue growing. There were 20 or so like this and there was even a tape or glue around the joint. Anyone else notice this or have an explanation? I didn't pull the trigger on one bc of this.
