How do these compare to the ones at Best Buy? Seems like just higher wattage handling ?

these are regular passive speakers, not something amplified or powered that would be required for bluetooth

Yeah me too. No HDMI either. Also not 4K.

What's the cheapest way to connect these to a smart home device like Google Home for music playback? I'd like something a bit more powerful than my tiny Google Home device outside but don't want to spend too much

You'll need a Google Home/Alexa/iWhatever compatible amplifier or plug a smart device into an older non-smart amplifier. Either route you take, you connect the speakers to the amplifier and then control as you wish.

I use Yamaha MusicCast devices and have nothing but great things to say. Denon HEOS is also awesome.

You could buy a cheap amplifier off Amazon and connect and Amazon echo dot to it. I use the dot's to connect to my AVR's and they work well.

I literally just finished installing a pair of the Monoprice 6.5" outdoor speakers over the weekend. Now I'm debating swapping them out for these and seeing if I can return the monoprice speakers. These are less expensive and Yamaha, in my experience, makes really solid stuff. Anyone have any opinions on if these would be better than the monoprice speakers?
