Example: 1-02 Clément Panchout feat. Facemelting Solos, Gamer of the Winds, SableProvidence - Aroma of Sugary Warmth (Balamb Garden)

I'd say you're being pretty harsh in your judgement though. Although I haven't listened to prior FF8 tracks from OCremix my memory from the early days of that site is that the artists often had tendencies to slap a generic techno track on there, draw it out unnecessarily, then slip in a synth of the melody and call it a day. That's far from what we get here - although I've only gone through the first 10 tracks you get for example:
track 2: authentic sounding middle eastern instruments
track 3: authentic sounding Chinese instruments
track 5: authentic sounding jazz
track 8: nice Celtic sound
But I'll throw some others not from this album that might be more to your taste - they stick closely to the original compositions:
Balamb Garden acoustic guitar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK994q3
Fisherman's Horizon acoustic guitar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh0-bVl4MIQ
Fisherman's Horizon (from official cover album): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snbQAx7

edit: And now that I've listened to some... my god what cringe. older ocremix versions of the tracks from back in the day are so much better.
