An activation key IS NOT a license to use the product. The misconception is that if it activates, its good. Microsoft Professional Plus is not even a retail or OEM SKu. It was previous only available as an Open License Agreement. Profession is a retail adn OEM sku ....NOT PLUS. Noone is going to vome after an individual user (well, most likely not), a company--yup..One disgruntled employee filing a complaint with BSA (Business Software Alliance) will trigger an audit. You would have to show an Open License Agreement or the purchase of a perpetual license from a Cloud Services Provider. I've been a Microsoft Partner and reseller for almost 30 years. The license is like the title to a car. The car will run just fine without it andyou have the key...but if ownership is ever questioned --well then you have a problem. Office Professional OEM and Office Professional Retail are in the $400 range from any legitimate dealer. You might as well pay zero and get a key for free off the internet. The theory of I've gotten away with it before so it's okay -- is not rational. Speeding is still a crime even if you don't get caught 50 times. As far as prosecution by Microsoft...they are extremely corporate in their legal approach, I've seen them take 5 years to prosecute..of course in that time they had so much data--that the defendent was bankrupted by the fines. If you don't want to pay the price -- use Libreoffice, Openoffice, etc. 100% piracy or I'd buy 10000 of these and give Office for free with every computer we sell. C'mon people if you need to ask if this is legit -- you're not bright enough to use a computer...You know it's BS so don't lie to yourself.
Microsoft is not going to come after an individual using grey market product keys. How the eff would they even know?

Yes, if you are a business it would be very stupid to use these keys but for an individual using your own personal PC the risk is very close to zero

Activated fine as long as I used the link on page 10. Probably should put that in the sticky.

There's a difference between an activation code that works, and an activation code that was legally obtained and authorized for resale.

If these were basically "stolen" from Microsoft (which they almost certainly are), they do have the possibility of being revoked at any point...whether that is tomorrow or three decades from now.

Really the main personal debate over whether you should buy it is simply if the cheap price makes sense to you regardless of if/when it gets revoked/deactivated, and if you don't mind technically having an illegal license.
They were not stolen, it's volume licensing. This has been talked about on here literally dozens of times.

It's run by Goldman Sachs. They have puts on MSFT
I had thought this was a joke or something and I was just missing the reference, but it's actually true [crunchbase.com]. Been poking around on here since at least 2011 and never knew. Thanks for the fun fact.

*haven't confirmed the MSFT puts yet

it's a stolen key from an organization sold out the "backdoor".

basically a large company will license 1000s of copies of MS office for their employees and a few enterprising IT outsourcers realized they could make a little side hustle out of stealing the keys and selling them to online marketplaces like "Royal CD Keys"
LOL what an idiotic comment... Sure, because all "large companies just throw money away buying 1000s of licenses without seeing how many employees they really have huh..? Oh yeah, and also, none of them have moved towards Microsoft 365 either, for sure... SMH...

I am sysadmin in IT department of the one of the universities. We have paid annual MS subscription for our university. From my admin account web page on microsoft.com I see keys available from 200 to 2000 activations for different MS products. We also able to give activation key for some products for our students. So I am pretty sure those cheap keys are stolen from one of those enterprise accounts. And of course, they are totally illegal even if you will be able to activate office with it. Sooner or late they all will be banned.
Never had one of these keys stop working. Are these illegitimate keys, 99.999%. is MS selling an average user a 400.00 office software that will stop working correctly with the next OS update a scam? Of course. It's all relative.

Tried to buy two copies twice. . . both times declined.
I was potentially charged a much larger price of $14 a key instead of $6.94

Fraud services called me and I had to go through robo-prompts to confirm that I tried to make the purchases along with anything else I used my card for within the last 2 days. . . . Hopefully my credit score won't go down because of this. =/
