Not bad for a low budget gaming PC. All you need is a inexpensive mainboard and maybe a used RX 580 or 5700XT.

I'd spend few more bucks and get 5600G. It doesn't need video card to run.

If you're gaming, you're better off buying an i3-12100F for $99, has less cores but it beats the R5 3600 in just about every game, sometimes by a sizable margin, and if you're a budget gamer, you're playing at 1080p, where CPU performance matters more than at higher resolutions.

If you're just doing basic tasks, you'll want a CPU with an iGPU, so not this one.

and those rx580s sell under $100 even new. Just need to get a decent PSU with an 8 pin pci power

The microcenter in Duluth GA was selling all open box motherboards for half off when I stopped by today.

Is this faster than a 5800x3d?

The 3600 is measurably slower... But you won't find any difference in speed during normal use unless you are a gamer looking to build a machine with at least a midrange GPU. This has a lot of value for the price.

Better gaming CPU than the 5500, generally and has PCIe 4.0. Only really loses out to it with power consumption.

I'm proud of my 3600 but if I'm going to put $75 towards a "new" CPU then I would rather go for a 5600x or higher. Everybody should do the same imo.

Lol

Just google search ryzen 5 3600 vs 5800x3d. You will get many benchmark comparisons and go on YouTube and you will see quite the difference between the two. It's like comparing an Apple to a dozen apples really

The 5800x3d is one of the fastest gaming CPUs on the market. Even still

I believe I skipped the 5600g because it isn't pcie 4.0 compatible. The 3600 is though.
