You also want to present your bait as naturally as possible. Worms crawl on the bottom to feed and hide from predators. They aren't going to be just sitting there suspended in the water column. Yes, you'll get dumb aggressive fish to bite, but you're not going to get the bigger ones that have learned their lesson, and that's why they've lived long enough to get that big.
I think most people who buy this will use it once or twice, and it will collect dust for decades.
FYI: I Fish for bass, and when I use worms, I use 5" plastic worms with an o-ring on it to save the worms from getting torn up. I also use a nail weight in the end, so when you move it on the bottom, it keeps one end down like it's picking at food. It's called a Neko rig.
