The sensor on it is pretty sensitive. We have ours set to auto so it keeps the fan speed low of air quality is good. Whenever we cook and make a little smoke in the kitchen, the purifier in the living room detects the drop in air quality and will start revving up to clean it faster. It's very sensitive to smoke and other outdoor pollution like smog and pollen.
You can see the difference in air quality on it's screen when the windows in the house are.open or closed. If they are open it will never drop to the lowest possible number, but if you close all the windows it'll eventually get the air to the cleanest possible level it can do.
It's fairly low maintenance too. Just clean it's sensor once every few months and replace the filters every 6-9 months. 6 months more.l likely if you have lots of people and/or pets. We just have two people so the filters last us about 9 months. You wanna change both the charcoal and HEPA filter.
FYI, Blueair 605 gets an 88/100. Winix 9800 76/100.
Noisy. Only works OK at high speed. Middling reliability and owner satisfaction. Expensive to operate.

Also I highly recommend any purifier with a true HEPA filter like this for anyone who has bad allergies or lives near a freeway.

Nobody is buying these, thats why they're on Woot and why you've never heard of it before. If nobody is buying them, what are the chances you'll still be able to get them (or get them at a reasonable price) in a few years?
