I'm leaning towards the Marmot Trestles Elite Eco 30 and bringing a liner when I expect it to get cold.
I find hitch carriers nice for things like ice chests and BBQs. Roof boxes better for tents, sleeping bags, luggage, etc. I do prefer the roof box but they each have their benefits.
better than rei deals by 50-100 bucks unless rei lets us combine the coupons.

I personally like altra lone peaks and Merrell Moabs...the Moabs aren't very durable but often found on sale.
