Having lived thru few Chipsets/Sockets, i feel one should always spend as little as possible. Intel changes sockets frequently, so it really doesnt matter for future planning. What matter is, does it fit you needs now.

With memory, if you do upgrade your computer every year or 2, then it can be reused.

ddr5 is more future proof. i would go with a ddr5 board if you can get the ram for cheap as part of a combo. Also i would spend as little as possible on a decent board because Z690/790 are basically EOL with raptor lake. next gen will be using "Z890" chipset or whatever ends up being called.

They may have the source code to MSI tools and MSI's Windows signing key (fake authentic installation files). I would be careful not to install MSI apps/tools until the problem has been resolved.

Main difference is the 12900k gets 4 more e cores. And a little clock speed bumps. If you don't do anything that really needs the extra multi core the 12700k is basically the same for most people.

Go DDR5 not DDR4. Just pay little bit more than you could get better performance.

i9 12900k + same MSI DDR5 motherboard is $419.98

Any good combos with ddr5 and 8 or more sata ports? That mobl only has 6 unfortunately. The mobo in this post has 8 but is ddr4
