saw an interview with the designer of this speaker, he said if you're upset your balls don't hang low enough, you buy the 590, otherwise, the 580 sounds better.
Picked these up when there was the sale last year with the shopping cart exploit - great speakers. I did have some damage to the legs when I was moving them around, as the wood the screws are attached into is apparently a little flimsy, but the sound is great and they look good as well. Just don't be a lazy moron like me and be sure to lift these off the ground when you move them on carpet!
I should note that I do not put these very loud, since I live in an apartment. If you want to know how they'd do as theater speakers I can't give a good answer.

As a proud owner of these, I can say that they are great surround sound (primary) speakers.
I use the 590s as front L and R, the 530s for rear L and R, and couldn't be happier.
I complement them with 2 Monolith powered 12s, and an additional 15" Castle sub for the low lows.

Strange...I remember reading that the 570s are his favorites in the line. And Z on YT wasn't a fan of the 580s (he was the one who convinced me to buy the 530s which I love). Supposedly the 580s have quite a different sound.
Another thing for people to consider that is often brought up.
If you are going to use for HT, the matching center(520c) is a major weakness and often people have to find an alternative.
The favorite is Infinity RC263 but it is hard to find, let alone on sale.
Some are starting to look at the new 6 series center as one.

If you decide to get these, make sure to connect them to a modern power amplifier, something like emotiva xpa-2. Compared to Klipsch rival, it is a bit laid back. The horn on this is a better implementation over klipsch except for the rf-7s that are roughly the same in terms of quality and dynamics. I currently own these and they work very well in my HT for movies using marantz avr and Onkyo m5200 power amp (it's a bright amp but mates nicely with marantz). However when connected to my parasound amp, it sounds dull. When connected to my emotiva xpa (another bright amp), it comes fully alive and actually sounds better than most of my other higher end systems. I think that's the best amp matching for it.

I am using onkyo reciever for jbl and the quality of sound is not that great in 15x15 media room...good for movies for dialouge and bass...they are loud...but for music detail is missing..I am thinking to return jbl and look for someother brand...tried every setting possible...still no luck
0 stars, dropped one on my big toe and fractured it while getting it out of the box... gave me an excuse to just sit there and listen while I healed though! They sound fantastic and don't need a sub with room gain unless you really need that last 15-20hz of extension. I paid 500 each, 400 each is close to the lowest these have ever been
Just a hot tip, follow the instructions on the box for how to inbox them. It's there for a good reason!

If there is truly that much difference in the sound of the amps/receivers, you are doing something wrong. Even middle-of-the-road receivers will measure ruler flat through the entire audible spectrum.

Funny thing, for a month, I test drove a parasound A51 for my three 590s and found the amp to be underwhelming. Sent the amp back and swapped it with three XPA-DR1's. Never been happier.

I would consider a dedicated amp for such a large speaker

I should note that I do not put these very loud, since I live in an apartment. If you want to know how they'd do as theater speakers I can't give a good answer.

Think of some big speakers you've seen in person. Now multiply that by about 20-30%.
I bought these a little over a year ago, and even though I knew going in that they were big, I wasn't prepared for HOW big they are.
If I had to do it over again, I probably would have gone with the 580's instead.

Still trying to decided if I should sell my kit and get a wall mount setup.
