Don't forget to check your utility for potential rebates. For example, in Illinois, the utility company ComEd offers $45 [comed.com] for dehumidifers.

Umm... That IS what an air conditioner is. Get yourself one of the portable air conditioners. Many of them label themselves as a dehumidifier.

Would you recommend getting an extended warranty for this?

I bought this Midea recently and like it a lot. It's smaller size, so doesn't use as much power, push out as much heat or make so much noise. It's on sale too. One of the few 35 pint that I researched with a pump.. I have always tried bigger is better with dehumidifiers, but was thinking about it all wrong. Running a lot in a living space, I have found this to be a better roommate.

Can I use this in my basement, or does it have to be a certain model?

Works better that all the other ones that I have had, even in cooler temps. Only issue that I have is that there is a part that keeps dropping down that I need to push back up because it does not let the container go back in, a real PIA.

I'd like to know what part this is? Not sure if I should buy this dehumidifier or not.

When these things lose refrigerant, is there any way to know? If you have it running into a drain in the basement, is the only indication that the refrigerant has leaked out is if the basement gets more humid? If you're not watching the humidity levels, would you just be wasting a lot of electrical power letting this run with low refrigerant?

When I was looking for a dehumidifier last year, this was well over $200 for the few weeks I was checking, so the price seems good. I ended up borrowing one so can't comment on this one, but at the time after doing some research, this one was the one I was looking to get.

Good buy. Have the cube, works well and fast. High energy $ though even though it says energy star. Govee one used less energy BUT ran all day to reach the target while having to replace the water bucket 3x daily. One cube and runs for 3 hours to hit target and automatically empties twice per week

Anybody know does anyone make a dehumidifier that acts like a portable air conditioners has the tube that goes outside so you don't blow any of the heat inside?
