If I already pre-ordered this on PC but also want to be able to play it on my Xbox sometimes, would I need to buy a copy for Xbox as well?
If so, I know the game has cross progression and if I bought the deluxe version on PC which comes with the pre-order goodies, would it then also be pointless to order the deluxe version on Xbox since it's technically the same account I am logging into on both?

As of now it's not a play anywhere title so you will have to purchase more than one copy.
Microsoft's acquisition of Blizzard is being blocked and delayed by Sony and the US Government

You will have to purchase the game on the platforms you want to play on. The bonus unlocks are tied to your character. So if you purchase the game again on Xbox the PC Deluxe edition items items will be on your characters via cross progression. Also there are no D4 preorder goodies as far as I know - that are actually useable on D4.

So if this is the case, then it would be foolish for me to buy the deluxe edition on Xbox considering I already bought the deluxe on PC due to cross-progression, sound correct?

Just so everyone knows, the 4 days early access is kind of misleading. Yes, you can play early but the first ladder season of this game isn't for another two months. On top of that, there will be no leaderboards for this game for about a year. If you're after the preorder cosmetics then go for it, but at this point the 4 days early access hardly matters.

I'll hold off until I find out whether Blizzard is going to monetize the login queue.
"For only $9.99, we'll take 30 minutes off your login queue time!"
Not sure if you're joking or not but the recent beta had no queues at all and the game worked well. I'm sure there will be some day 1 issues but they will likely get fixed quickly.

From what I read, cosmetics are account-wide, so there is no reason to buy the deluxe version more than once, and I would do that for the cheapest platform available (which looks like Xbox right now).

I was just teasing based on the botched D3 release, but by the number of downvotes I guess that's not appreciated around here! 😄

Fair enough, the D3 launch was a dumpster fire with the queues and error 37. But I was so pleasantly surprised by the stability in the latest beta I actually upgraded my pre-order so I can play a few days early

I guess lessons learned in the past about pre-ordering are very easily forgotten. This is a digital good. There is no chance of them running out. Pre-ordering only hurts the consumer in instances like these.
Not gonna mince my words in this next bit:
If you pre-order games like this...you are part of the problem!

We will see about that. Beta and server slam is only a portion of the total people and it doesnt account for the people on the consoles. My money will be on the long queues and log in errors.
Thanks for paying more and testing out their endless queues?

I hope you're wrong but yeah, like I said, it's entirely possible to still have issues at launch. And you're welcome! I took one for the team so you can have a better product when/if you decide to buy later.
