Great deal on a nice instrument. These are great for kids or people with small hands. Also very convenient size for travel, about the size of a standard electric guitar.
Tempted to grab one every time. If it was a 5 string around that price point I'd be hard to refuse. Have been planning on a rewarding myself for quitting cigarettes with likely a BTB model. Only been playing a year but found I really love the feel of Ibanez basses.

This might not be the right bass for you if you want a good 5-string instrument. This is below the scale of even a typical short scale bass. It would not even come close to maintaining adequate string tension for a B-string which usually needs a 35" scale for decent intonation and string tension. For this bass you'd have to buy short scale specific strings for adequate tension. Those are not very common, and they are even less common in 5-string packs.
The BTBs are a little heavy, but very nice. I'd highly recommend that over this. I used to have a maple and walnut Ibanez SR1205 neckthrough that I really regret selling.

Thanks but I never meant this in place of the BTB. I have a Sire Marcus Miller 4 string and am interested in a full size Ibanez 5 string. This is more of a carry piece for small jamming that I wouldn't be crushed if it got stolen or lost. I also have a Kala fretless Ubass and Ibanez Acoustic Parlor Bass… I acquired gear acquisition syndrome quite swiftly into the hobby.
I'm actually curious to see what 5 string options Kala's new electric Ubass lines are going to have.
OP "staff" posts 10 guitars from this site a week (search adorama on here).
Search this guitar on Adorama's site and it shows a listing for $199.99. The $129.00 deal price only shows by clicking the slickdeals link. Clearly there is something going on behind the scenes. Right now the cheapest miKro GSRM20 used on Reverb is $175 with shipping. Slickdeals gets money from Adorama and I get new guitar for less than a used one costs. I don't have a problem with that.
I have one of these somewhere. They are a fun little bass, but because of the short scale string tension is low and this can be hard for newcomers to learn on. A few family kids had trouble with it compared to a standard SS or full scale jazz bass.
Mine came really nicely, needed a setup. The above poster is right- The shorter scale makes it more floppy, but that just needs a strumming or picking adjustment to not strum so hard.

If you have a kid interested in learning electric bass, then this is absolutely the bass to get (unless s/he has huge hands). This was used heavily by my son for almost 6 years. It's a decent bass that sounds pretty good and plays very smoothly and comfortably. It took playing in many serious school gigs, his hands getting huge, and needing a 5 string to get him off of this!
